Commuting: Westport is 65 minutes by express train for the many executives who commute to offices in New York City. Trains run on a frequent schedule during peak morning and evening hours, and hourly during the rest of the day. Westport’s local bus system transports residents to the railway station as well as to other Westport locales.

Education: Noted for its excellent 4-4-4 school system, Westport provides three elementary schools, two middle schools, and one expansive high school, all highly rated. Special education for students requiring special needs is provided in all schools through three different programs. Staples was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2013.

Recreational Facilities: Public beaches for swimming, boating, windsurfing, and fishing, lie a short walk or bike ride away, or, at most, a ten-minute drive from- the farthest reaches of Town. Longshore Club Park provides a public golf course, swimming pool, and tennis courts as well as accommodations for small boats in its Town-owned Marina. Additional public facilities include tennis court complexes and boating facilities. A spacious waterfront area, Sherwood Island State Park combines a mile-long beach with playgrounds, ball fields, and a shady picnic grove. Cultural Opportunities: Westport boasts numerous cultural activities appealing to almost every interest. The famous 50-year-old Westport Country Playhouse offers professional theater productions throughout the summer. Levitt Pavilion, located on the banks of the Saugatuck River, is an extraordinary outdoor theater. It presents an array of free programs from jazz and rock concerts to pop and classical music, puppet shows, magic shows, and dance ensembles Linder the stars all summer long. Special benefit concerts are also given by celebrity performers throughout the season. In addition to providing studio space for artists, the Westport Arts Center sponsors theater programs, art tours, and exhibits year-round. Outdoor arts and crafts shows are seasonal traditions along the sidewalks of the Town. Nature lovers can enjoy walks, birding field trips, and a variety of environmental classes and expeditions at the Nature Center for Environmental activities, Earthplace.
